EVENTS

Upcoming Event:
UEO's Networking Social, January 11th.

The AKAnomics AKAdemy will be held at Grace A.M.E. Church in Catonsville from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the dates below. To reserve your space, or for further information, please contact Tamara Lewis.

April 7, 2007 - The Economic Growth of the Black Family
The strength of the Black community hinges on the viability of the family. If the family foundation is weak, so too will be the broader societal structure that gives life and nourishes the family unit. Within the core structure, the Black male, in particular, faces potentially daunting challenges. Recognizing this, a powerful remedy lies in devising strategies for assisting young males in overcoming the formidable challenges to their educational development and well-being. This seminar is open to both males and females but a particular emphasis will be placed on providing black males with financial empowerment strategies to aid them in achieving the economic growth of their families.

June 2, 2007 - The Non-traditional Entrepreneur
Women are seizing the reins of entrepreneurship because they realize it is the key to economic survival. As they become more of the business landscape and their enterprises grow, women are coming face to face with the challenges of managing and expanding new ventures. This seminar is open to both males and females but an emphasis will be placed on women in business and will encourage women to create economic expertise, success in business, and power networking opportunities.

October 6, 2007 - Protecting Your Identity
Identity theft occurs when someone wrongfully acquires or uses another person's personal data, typically for their own financial gain. Sometimes it is referred to as “identity fraud” since the criminal impersonates rather than 'removes' the victim's identity. This seminar will help you identify common ways in which identity theft occurs and teach you to fight back against identity theft.
